Marc Guixé is from Andorra and has been living at Unihabit residence Girona for five years. He first moved in during his first year of university, and since then, he hasn’t stopped choosing Unihabit as his home. We spoke with him to find out why he continues to stay year after year.

Why did you choose Unihabit?

I mainly chose it because the communication with my university was one of the best. I saw that the facilities were great in the first year… and five years later, I’m still here!

What made you renew your stay every year?

It’s a mix of things. From the start, there have been great activities, a really good vibe among everyone, and lots of football fans —which I love too. The common area is super cozy, the gym is amazing… I just feel really comfortable here.

Are there many activities at the residence?

Yes! There are events for everything: Carnival, Christmas, the welcome party… There’s always something to enjoy and share with others.

What’s your relationship with David like?

David is the “boss.” If you ever have a problem, he’s always there to help you out.

David has been at Unihabit Girona for 12 years and is much more than just the concierge: he takes care of maintenance, fixes any problems, and is always available for the students. As he describes himself, he’s a bit of a “tutti frutti”: a dad, friend, psychologist, and even a cook. His priority is that the residents feel comfortable, make the residence their home, and have a safe place to rely on whenever they need it.

Do you miss home?

With a smile, Marc admits that, of course, you always miss home a little —but living at the residence feels so good that there’s not much reason to feel homesick:

“Well, ‘home sweet home’… of course I miss it. But there’s so much going on here that I don’t really have a reason to miss it that much.”

Why did you choose a student residence over another type of housing?

That first year, both my sister and I chose a student residence. She was in Barcelona, and I came here. Mainly for the safety —because you know that if anything happens, there’s always someone there for you. Our parents always told us: in your first year, choose a residence. If you feel good there, stay. And if not, you can always look for a flat later. But me… I stayed!

If you’re looking for a student residence where you’ll feel safe, supported, and surrounded by a positive community and fun activities, Unihabit Girona might be just right for you.

Like Marc, many students end up turning Unihabit into their home throughout their university journey.
