If you are looking for recommendations on study techniques, you should know that there are various methods that can help you improve the way you acquire knowledge. In this way, you will be able to optimize your way of studying and thus achieve better results in your next exam.
In addition to applying recommendations for study techniques to improve your grades, it is also important to work on self-awareness. Exams are a moment to test much more than knowledge of the syllabus presented by students. Implicitly, they are an assessment of students’ skills in moments of pressure, which must be trained.

Recommendations: the 2 most effective study techniques
The exam begins long before the day of the test. That is why you should be familiar with recommendations for study techniques that will allow you to memorize the content and prepare in an optimal way for taking the exams. Although there are various alternatives to implement, there are two techniques that stand out for their effectiveness: the Pomodoro Technique and the Cornell Method. Among the student community of UNIHABIT residences, these are the most widely used and the most effective.

Pomodoro Technique
The Pomodoro Method was created in the late 1980s. This practice consists of carrying out study cycles of 25 minutes, followed by 5 minutes of rest. Once four cycles have been completed, the break should be between 15 and 30 minutes. This can be repeated as many times as the student requires, since after the long break, the Pomodoro method can be started again.
In this way, much more efficient and productive study sessions are promoted. The Cornell Method aims to summarize and retain an author’s ideas through an organized note-taking system. The process consists of dividing the page into four distinct areas to facilitate the interpretation of information. These areas are as follows:
- Header: in this section we will place the specific details of the page, such as the date of the session, the subject, or the page number.
- Notes: here we will include the key notes from the session.
- Margins: this area is used to write down concepts, questions, and notes that are related to the main content of the lessons.
- Summary: in this final quadrant, the main ideas of the page will be summarized by combining the notes and the margins in a synthesized way.
